In line with the Equality Act of 2010, College recognizes disability as someone who has an impairment, physical or mental, which has a substantial and long term adverse effect on their ability to carry out normal day to day activities.
Our college is committed to a policy of equal opportunities and is working towards the creation of an environment where all individuals can participate fully in the academic and social life of the College.
We have the highest regard for confidentiality and will only disclose the details of a disability to other members of staff with your express permission. Details of your disability will be discussed with staff members, after your permission has been sought, solely on a need to know basis. If not necessary, the staff won’t be informed. In addition to this, at your request, only the required adjustments and not the nature of your disability need be communicated to others.
For students who are studying on a full time higher education course and are registered as having a disability, they may be entitled to additional funding (if applicable and eligible for) through the Disabled Student Allowance scheme. This is a non-means-tested grant which helps to fund the extra costs a student with a disability, long term medical condition, sensory impairment, physical difficulty or specific learning difficulty (e.g. dyslexia), may incur.
